Indians are an ignorant lot when it comes to being aware of about basic rights. The complexity of the Indian constitution sometimes leaves us with few options to understand it. It’s ironic considering we often talk about the importance of knowing our fundamental rights; ask anyone about rights and they will give you their two cents about freedom of speech and you’ll regret even bringing up the topic.
But, the reality is, we are not really aware of many of these rights. There are some rights that you can’t afford to not know about, because knowing them is going to make your life easier.
There is one law on which the Supreme Court ruled in 2011. It says,
According to Section 497 of the IPC, a woman cannot be prosecuted for her involvement in an adulterous relationship.
In fact, the section says that she can’t even be charged for being an instigator of the adultery. However, when it comes to your daily basic needs, there is one law which you must and should be aware of. This law talks about the basic human need, water!
According to Indian Sarais Act, 1867 any individual can ask for water free of charge from any hotel at any time for themselves and their pets.
Furthermore, he or she can use the washroom for free, and no one can stop them. It is your right to demand water from any hotel at any time. The staff at a hotel may or may not allow you at times to do so. However, when you know about your rights, you can freely ask for it.
