Almost three years after communal clashes in Muzaffarnagar, which claimed 60 lives, Hindu and Muslim inmates in a local prison are showing the way towards unity.
Around 100 Hindus there are fasting along with 1000 Muslim inmates for Ramzan.
Anita, 35, who is serving a life sentence in jail, said fasting for Ramzan was a personal decision.
Seasonal fruits, dates, milk, curd and other snacks have been provided so that prisoners can have their sehri and iftar.
Rakesh Singh, the jail supervisor told NDTV, “This is the first time in my career that I have seen such a display of unity inside the jail premises. I think it’s a wonderful thing in these times.”
