The world of glamour, pomp and show, success, limelight and paparazzi isn’t meant for all – in other words, Bollywood isn’t meant for all. Keeping fit all the time, being a gym fanatic, leading a healthy lifestyle and looking fab, are all a constant part of the glitzy world of this industry and not everyone can keep up with its pace. It takes guts and willpower to survive in this industry where you are constantly facing the lens and media.

Not very long ago, some very talented and superbly unlucky heroes got a taste of this super-competitive industry and realised that it wasn’t their cup of tea. Here’s a list of those 10 talented Bollywood actors who disappeared from the limelight and transformed their entire image.

1. Uday Chopra

The actor who made his Bollywood debut with ‘Mohabbatein‘ and romanced with hot Shamita Shetty, looks completely unrecognisable now. Uday was always ripped and had a fit body to die for! Cut to 2017, and he looks nowhere near. One can understand that being the owner-manager (CEO) of YRF Entertainment and manager of Yash Raj Films can be a huge burden and responsibility, but now he looks overweight, without any six-packs, and his grey beard is only adding more years to his appearance. He was last seen in Dhoom 3 in 2013.

2. Chandrachur Singh

We can hardly believe that the gorgeous Aishwarya Rai Bachchan once romanced him in Josh! Chandrachur Singh, is far from his chocolate boy looks today. From his debut in ‘Tere Mere Sapne‘, to ‘Maachis’ and then ‘Josh‘, he looks different now. After a serious spinal cord problem, he was forced to quit movies and gained weight. Though he starred in several films like ‘Betaabi’, ‘Dil Kya Kare’, Daag: The Fire’ etc, we can’t get over his bushy moustache and salt and pepper hair today. He last worked in Govinda’s ‘Aa Gaya Hero’ which tanked at the box office.

3. Rahul Roy

‘Aashiqui’ fame Rahul Roy was the perfect poster boy with his romantic looks when he romanced with Anuradha Kapoor in the 1990 blockbuster. During his peak, Rahul got featured in Hindi movies like ‘Junoon’ and ‘Phir Teri Kahani Yaad Aayee’. He later won the first season of TV reality show Bigg Boss in 2007 and that was the last we saw of him. However, Rahul’s new persona is far different from how we remember him. He will now be seen on the big screen in ‘Welcome to Russia’.

4. Kumar Gaurav

After his big Bollywood debut in Love Story (1981), Kumar Gaurav went on to do a number of movies like ‘Teri Kasam,’ ‘Naam’, ‘Indrajeet’ etc, but couldn’t make a lasting impression. He also did some television and dubbing roles too, but people could never forget his charming looks from his character of Bunty in his debut. He was last seen in ‘Kaante‘ in 2002.

5. Puneet Issar

Puneet Issar is an acclaimed Indian actor, who was most famous for his role as Duryodhana in the TV adaptation of the Mahabharata. He directed ‘Garv: Pride and Honour’ (2004) starring Salman Khan. His other notable works were in ‘Border’ and ‘Purana Mandir’. However, now the actor is completely bald and aged. His looks have been replaced by a heavier frame. Issar was last seen in the Indian TV reality show Bigg Boss season 8 in 2014-2015.

6. Himanshu Malik

How do you react after seeing Himanshu Malik, who made his Bollywood debut with the controversial cult film ‘Kamasutra: The Tale Of Love‘? He’s difficult to recognise today. Gone are the days when his model looks swooned girls significantly. He has a much heavier face now, minus the chiselled jaw and impressive physique. He was last seen in 2011’s comedy movie ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana’.

7. Harman Baweja

After a disappointing debut opposite Priyanka Chopra in ‘Love Story 2050′, Harman Baweja’s career really didn’t kick off as expected. He went on to act in movies like ‘What’s Your Rashee’, ‘Dishkiyaaoo‘ and ‘It’s My Life‘, but his career failed miserably. The actor always looked handsome with his suave style, sunshades and well-tailored suits, but is totally unrecognisable now. Not only has he put on weight, but looks much older than his real age (37 years). His last film ‘Dishkiyaoon’ failed at the box office as well.

8. Fardeen Khan

We would have thought that a successful actor’s son would always know the importance of looking good and dashing for the camera, but Fardeen didn’t realise this. Lately, his drastic weight gain has shocked all his fans. Gone are his chocolate boy looks and cute smile. After working in films like ‘Dev’, ‘Heyy Babyy’, ‘No Entry’, ‘Life Partner’ and ‘All The Best’, Fardeen called it quits. He’s so overweight now that he’s hardly recognisable! He was last seen in 2010 comedy film, ‘Dulha Mil Gaya’.

9. Akshaye Khanna

Akshaye Khanna was one of the coolest characters in ‘Dil Chata Hai’ and hasn’t been an unfamiliar name in the Bollywood. As he’s the son of veteran actor Vinod Khanna, it’s not surprising that good looks run in the family. There was a time when he was considered as talented and handsome as his father. But, today, Akshaye has changed and looks much older with his baldness creeping in and loss of fat in his face. He was last seen in a stellar performance in 2017 film starring late Sridevi in ‘Mom‘.

10. Bobby Deol

When Bobby Deol made his Bollywood debut with ‘Barsaat‘ in 1995, women went crazy over his cute looks and dimpled cheeks. His chiselled jaw and sweet smile swooned girls when he romanced with Twinkle Khanna in the movie. But, he soon became just distant memory for his fans and left the industry to become a part time DJ. Going by his current look, his heavy beard, grungy avatar and a heavier face structure, hardly make him recognisable.
