Ace Indian shooter Heena Sidhu has landed herself in a controversy. Heena has lately commented something related to national anthem that has now landed her in a trouble. The 28-year-old sportswoman said that she feels proud to be a sportsperson and standing while the national anthem is being played in a cinema hall is something important.
The shooter wrote on Twitter:
“No need to stand up for National Anthem means you can carry on eating your pop-corns, chit-chatting, talking loudly on your phone while it’s playing. Sometimes, I feel so blessed to be a sportsperson…We can’t even imagine this! Getting a medal wouldn’t be half as good without the Anthem.”
Here is the tweet:

Her tweet came after an FIR was lodged against two students in Jammu & Kashmir who allegedly did not stand up in a theater when the national anthem was played.
It has been reported that the two men are students of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University of Rajouri district. It has been alleged that when the national anthem was being played, the two did not even stand up. They were seen taking pictures while the national anthem was being played.
A few days back the Jaipur Mayor Ashok Lahoty made it mandatory for staffers to sing the national anthem every morning and national song every evening.
While last month Supreme court mentioned on the issue citing, “We don’t have to wear patriotism on our sleeve.” However, Heena has a different opinion about the same and thus voiced herself on Twitter.
After Heena’s tweet, people started discussing the same:
Now u’ll be declared sanghi. Because some people think national anthem belongs to Rss only.

लेकिन जिनका शरीर हिंदुस्तान में और मन पाकिस्तान में हो वह क्या समझ पाएंगे राष्ट्रगान की गरिमा क्या होती है

There is a difference lady, you have won something for the country and the anthem is in your honour! Films are source of entertainment and playing the anthem before a film is not needed at all.

So true @HeenaSidhu10
That pride when the National Anthem plays while you’re on the podium is just incredible.
It’s a feeling you treasure for life.

Our national anthem after so many controversies reduced to just 52 sec. Assuming common man visits once a month in a theatre means 24hrs*30days, and for a movie of 3 hrs. and you couldn’t stand for 52 sec NA is totally unacceptable and inadmissible @GautamGambhir @virendersehwag

stop this bullshit topic..

Vaise bhi popcorn khane vale madhyam se hi iska opposition aa raha hai… i.e. Filmstars and Page 3 leftists.
Baki aam janta aur sportsperson ko toh koi problem hai hi nahi.

Why is this a promoted tweet? Need national anthem to promote yourself?
— Rahul Sharma (@s24_rahul) November 25, 2017
Of course the best idea would be to stop playing it in theaters before movies. Forced patriotism had no place in civilized societies.

I wish still I could go back to my school days where we used to sing the national anthem with pride . We got to learn a lot from kids .

Following the controversy, Heena commented on what she actually meant by the words in her tweet:
First SC said National Anthem will be played before movies, then it made standing for it optional. It gives rogue elements chance to openly disrespect it. It mustn’t be played before movies, people come there for entertainment: Heena Sidhu, shooter on her tweet on National Anthem pic.twitter.com/cziEcYgjAi

Exactly first SC mixed patriotism with Entertainment now they say duty towards National Anthem is optional. But why did they have it playing in movie theatres in the first place. And if it is playing ppl shud stand or either revoke your first order of playing it in theatres
