Haryana Government School Students To Soon Learn Texts From All Four Major Religious Books

Updated on 3 November, 2016 at 6:58 pm By

Haryana Government will be introducing Quran, Bible and Guru Granth Sahib besides the Bhagwad Gita in government school curriculum.

The decision was reportedly taken after the state government was criticized for its 2015 decision of introducing Bhagwad Gita only in schools.

According to reports, Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma announced on Sunday that religious texts will be part of the moral education in Haryana government schools which will be imparted to students from sixth to twelfth standard.

“All religions focus on character building. Different textbooks would be prescribed for each class,” Sharma said in a statement.

Reports say that the induction of religious texts into school curriculum will be done on July 5 at Kurukshetra University.

It should be noted here that Congress had cried “saffronization of education” when the state government had thought of introducing Bhagwad Gita in schools.
