There are a number of typical Hollywood or Bollywood love stories we have watched and dismissed because they seemed unreal and too cheesy. However, deep down, we know how we wished for these stories to come true and restore our faith in true love. This story is exactly what we wished for.
The love story of Laura Scheel and Matt Grodsky has recently been concluded in a fairytale wedding but the love started 20 years ago. The pair first met when they were 3 and in studying in preschool. They instantly hit it off and would spend all the time together.
Their magical story appeared in a post on the Instagram handle ‘The Way We Met’. Matt spilled his heart out telling everyone how it all started when he was 3 and declared his love for Laura.
"Laura and I met in preschool. One of my very first memories is of being 3 years old and standing up in front of my pre-school class, declaring that I would marry her someday. As kids, Laura taught me how to ride the swings, draw rolling hills, and the 'right way' to properly eat string cheese. We have fond memories of playing hide-and-go-seek, chasing after each other on the playground, and mischievously staying up during nap time. I was enamored with Laura as a child, and I still am to this day. Eventually, we lost touch upon entering our Elementary School days and for the next seven years, our family's annual Christmas cards was the only way we ever saw each other's faces. It wasn't until High School that we reconnected by happenstance through a mutual friend. Within two weeks, we decided to be boyfriend and girlfriend. We continued to date through out all of High School, even though we went to different schools. We even stuck together long-distance while attending colleges in different states. We remained a resilient couple until May 23rd, 2015 when I decided to stay true to my preschool pledge and make Laura my wife. I proposed to her at the place it all began… our preschool classroom."
Matt rejoiced upon the fact how the couple, even after remaining away for a long time in between, found each other back. Though they studied in different schools and colleges, their love filled up for all the distance. He told Huffpost:
Lion King was what all the kids were into back then so we would spend most of our time reciting lines from the movie on the playground. I remember trying to impress her during a Cinco De Mayo celebration at the preschool where we were trying to break open a piñata. Fortunately, I was the kid who managed to do it and I assume it got her attention.
In May 2015, Matt decided to never let Laura go away from him ever and popped the question. The place he chose was their preschool.
They got married in December last year. Matt shares his experience about the proposal and nervousness it brought despite the fact that the couple has been quite strong together.
The whole car ride to the preschool she kept asking me why I seemed anxious. I kept checking my pocket when she wasn’t looking to make sure the ring was still there. I dropped down on one knee while my brother came in with the phone, snapping photos. Laura was shocked. I gave her my pitch on why I wanted her to marry me and she said yes ― whew!
