According to online news agency DNA, the Civil Aviation Ministry of India is considering whether to allow gurus Baba Ramdev and Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh to be exempt from frisking at airports.
According to DNA, both the ‘spiritual gurus’ have separately requested to be exempt from being frisked at airports. Aviation Minister and BJP leader Mahesh Sharma is giving some serious consideration to their requests.
The online news portal further claims that after accepting the requests for ‘fast passage’ from both the gurus. Sharma is giving the mater a serious thought and has said:
“The government will be considering the demands without any bias or prejudice and may accept (it) if it does not come in the way of security.”
The news portal also stated that while these two have requested for faster passage, other saints have urged that they be allowed to carry their trishuls (tridents) within the aircraft and Sharma is said to have forwarded their request to the central government and asked them to relax some of the rules so as to allow some of these gurus the requested privilege.
Besides select few VVIPs, the Prime Minister, the President and some other dignitaries, most people are not exempt from frisking due to security concerns.
While there have been rumors that the current BJP-led government was planning to drop Robert Vadra’s name from the no-frisking list, with Baba Ramdev known to be a close BJP associate, acceptance of his particular request might create a huge political outcry within the country.
