Media in India experienced a whopping upsurge in the insult, criticism, memes and jokes on Gurmeet Ram Rahim who has been convicted as a rapist and punished with 20 years in jail. The fall of the self-acclaimed godman is being hailed by the people on social media and on streets.
One of those who praised the court’s decision is Gul Panag. But Panag is Panag. Instead of expressing things the easy way she took to Instagram to take a sarcastic dig at Dera Sacha Sauda’s former chief.
She called the film ‘MSG: The Messenger of God’ “a work of art” and posted a picture of the day she had watched the film in theater. In the picture, she can be seen posing in front of the film’s poster. Her caption had a number of hashtags, #sarcasm being one of them.
Have a look at her Instagram post below:
We have always known Gul Panag for shattering all sorts of stereotypes and do the unconventional, whether it was arriving at her own wedding on a motorbike, becoming a certified commercial pilot, or being the first Indian woman to drive a Formula-E car. Apart from being an adventure lover, the Bollywood diva is great with sense of humor as well, and her Instagram page is the perfect proof of that.
But people, it appears, don’t understand sarcasm. As soon as Gul Panag posted the image, angry reactions started pouring it. It is understandable that after a so-called religious guru having lakhs of followers in the country gets convicted as a rapist and is being tried for murders, sentiments of people are at an all-time high. But it wasn’t expected that they would fail to understand sarcasm. And this was sad and funny at the same time.
Most of the people did not fathom Panag’s sarcasm and started lashing out at her. Some even unfollowed her perhaps because they could not comprehend the joke and thought Panag is a Dera supporter.
Below are some such reactions:
There were only some who could follow her sarcasm and made following comments:
Ah sarcasm! How difficult are you!
