Khimjibhai Prajapati, a beggar aged 68 from Mehsana (Gujarat), pleasantly surprised the parents of 10 poor little girls by gifting them gold earrings.
The little girls are all children of daily wage labourers and blacksmiths who live in the slums.
Prajapati bought earrings from the money, that he collected by begging outside temples.
He is known for giving alms to poor people, to encourage girls education.
While the amount of ten pair of gold earrings was around Rs 13,000, the jeweller decided to give Prajapati a discount of Rs 3,000.
A media report had suggested that Prajapati has spent around Rs 80 lakh for buying books, school uniform and paying fees of poor girls, in last 13 years.
Prajapati believes the lower number of girls in Mehsana is a cause of concern for which the girls need to be encouraged to complete their education.
Those, who heard the news, say that they have never come across any poor person donating gold for girls in their entire lives.
