One big release that will be hitting the screen on Independence Day this year is going to be Reema Kagti’s sports drama ‘Gold’. Ritesh Sidhwani and the multi-faceted Farhan Akhtar have produced the movie. According to co-producer Ritesh Sidhwani, the movie is set against real backdrop between 1933-48 India and is not based on any character.
Though the response to the trailer was overwhelming, unfortunately, not all of it was positive.
The movie explores Indian history for about 12 years prior to India’s first Olympic win in 1948. The story traces the life of Tapan Das who always wanted to play in an independent nation. The shooting began back in July 2017 at foreign locations including Bradford, Rotherham, and Doncaster in Yorkshire.
Many of the cast and crew of the movie tweeted about the just released Gold trailer. But unfortunately, it did not get the universal acceptance and approval, as they had hoped. Here is the trailer:
A lot of tweeple did not like the Gold trailer and slammed the movie through their tweets. This is what some of the tweets said:
Too much nationalism and too many oldies:
Too much nationalism and a bunch of oldies pretending to look young.
I would have preferred a healthy dose of patriotism and some young blood (below 30) instead.
Creating narratives to get tax exemption?
Hope this flops, so that no one takes viewers to be dumb.

Akshay kumar ko ye samjhna padega ke Adakari ek art h koi product nhi jo 3 mahine me complete hoke bazare aa jayega bikne ko.
Abhi amir khan ya srk hota toh #Gold kitni shandar bnti.

Sorry, too jingoistic for our refined taste…and true story my foot, such jingoism *did not* happen…akki, is doing a series of all these fake-true stories (Rustom, that Rescue movie and now this)
PS: give me real stuff like Mukkabaaz..or less jingoistic like how Aamir does
