The news of yesteryear actress Geeta Kapoor being abandoned by her son shook all of us in past few days. The ‘Pakeezah’ actress was hospitalized for treatment of falling blood pressure in Goregaon’s SRV Hospital on April 21. All of us can take a sigh of relief as she has been discharged from the hospital and shifted to an old age home.
After Geeta Kapoor’s story got the media’s attention, two members of the film fraternity came to her rescue. Filmmaker and CBFC member, Ashoke Pandit, and producer Ramesh Taurani took charge of the situation, settled the hospital bill and finally shifted her to a better place.

The shocking incident came to light when the hospital filed a complaint with the police after a month of Geeta Kapoor’s son’s disappearance. As the bill reached 1.5 lakh, her son Raja left the hospital looking for an ATM and never returned. All the attempts to establish contact with him failed as he switched off his number and moved out of their flat soon after. Even Geeta’s daughter is unreachable and is believed to have followed her brother’s lead.

We just shifted Geetaji to Jeevan Asha Old Age Home in Andheri. She is stable, but still cries every now and then and enquires about her son. She keeps on asking how Raja left her in the hospital like this, she is inconsolable. However, we have managed to settle her. The old age home is good, she will be taken care of properly, there is a hospital within the old age home in case of an emergency.
The filmmaker issued an NOC with the help of Mumbai Police to shift the 58-year-old actress to an old age home. He earlier informed PTI,
Paying the bill is a minor thing, my main aim is that she gets back her dignity, honor and fights back. Her son is still at large and the police will look into that.
