In a landmark judgment given by the Supreme Court of India, section 377 of the Indian Penal Code was partially scrapped thus decriminalizing homosexuality. This gave access to a major fundamental right for the people of LGBTQ community. After the decision was announced, people throughout the country celebrated and were mostly seen united. Heavy support started pouring in from different parts of India and we saw how our social media feeds turned rainbow for a day! The decision was also highlighted by all major world media. India surely celebrated its second independence day. The celebrations are not over yet as cricketer Gautam Gambhir just raised the benchmark with his wonderful and brave gesture.
To support and celebrate the cause a recent event was organized in the nation’s capital. The transgender community came together for the seventh edition of Hijra Habba in New Delhi while Gautam Gambhir attended the even and was seen supporting the cause.
The cricketer, who is always up to support causes that affect the common man, was seen in a very positive spirit during the event. Not only this, Gautam Gambhir was spotted donning a black saree and a bindi during the event.
This was Gambhir’s gesture to support the transgender community.
The transgenders dressed up the cricketer like this!
Earlier, Gautam Gambhir also tied Rakhi to the people of the transgender community. He also tweeted the pictures of the same!
“It’s not about being a man or a woman. It’s about being a HUMAN.” With proud transgenders Abhina Aher and Simran Shaikh and their Rakhi love on my hand. I’ve accepted them as they are. Will you? #respecttransgenders pic.twitter.com/6gBOqXu6nj
