Cricketer Gautam Gambhir has never shied away when it comes to taking a stand for himself. This time he has taken a Delhi-based proprietor to court.

The owner of the Punjabi Bagh-based restaurant-bar Ghungroo is under scrutiny. Reason – the proprietor has used Gautam Gambhir’s name as a tagline for branding his restaurant.

But that’s not the end of the story!

The proprietor’s name is Gautam Gambhir and he is currently running two more restaurants at different locations by the names Hawalat by Gautam Gambhir and Blu Wavs by Gautam Gambhir.

The proprietor has contended that he has not yet received any notice from the court, he is only aware of the news which is running on various news portals.

The man revealed to The Times of India,

Woh celebrity aur bahot bade cricketer hain toh meri bhi koi apni identity hai. Ab unka naam Gautam Gambhir hai toh main kya apna naam change kar loon? (He is a big cricketer and celebrity but I also have my own identity. Just because he was named Gautam Gambhir, should I change my name?) Now that the matter is in court, I am ready to fight it legally. I have not made any reference to the cricketer in any way- either in the name or through the ambiance of my restaurants.

He further added,

I have never claimed that it is named after cricketer Gautam Gambhir, I am not using any cricket lingo or images, like cricket bat or ball. I am Gautam Gambhir and I have the right to use my name for my ventures.
