Indian tennis star Leander Paes has secured his place at French Open Mixed Doubles final on June 2 ensuring that an Indian will win the cup. Paes-Hingis will face Indo-Croatian duo of Sania Mirza and Ivan Dodig.
Paes and Hingis defeated sixth seeded Edouard Roger-Vasselin-Andrea Hlavackova on June 2 to reach the final.
Defeating the the French-Czech pair in a gruelling match, the duo had to rally hard in the third set to secure their spot in the finals by winning match 6-3, 3-6, 10-7.
The unseeded pair of Paes and Hingis had defeated fifth seeded Elena Vesnina and Bruno Soares in the quarter-finals.
Meanwhile, Mirza along with her Croatian partner Ivan Dodig too had to overcome a gruelling battle of their own to secure their spot.
The second seeded duo defeated third seeded Kristina Mladenovic and Pierre-Hugues Herbert after a long rally to win 4-6, 6-4, 12-10.
While Paes has never won French Open Mixed Doubles Title, Mirza won it in 2012.
