Ringing Bells has reportedly refunded the money paid by the first 30,000 customers for the Freedom 251 smartphone.
Times of India cites ABP News channel stating that the money that has been refunded was made before the site crashed.
Overwhelming response to the advertisement of ‘India’s cheapest phone’ had led to the site crashing down.
Doubts were raised on the product, its price, the company, their website and even the owner, Mohit Goel.
The company’s president Ashok Chadha said in a statement that Ringing Bells will now sell Freedom 251 through the cash on delivery mode only.
Meanwhile, a police case has been registered against the company by Noida-based BPO Cyfuture.
Ringing Bells has been accused of fraud and non-payment of dues amounting to Rs.80 lakhs.
