Freedom 251 Director Mohit Goel Detained For Fraud, FIR States He Gave Life Threats

Mohit Goel, director of Noida-based company Ringing Bells, who in 2016 had announced  Freedom 251 smartphones, was detained on February 23 on allegations of fraud.

Goel, in 2016 had announced that his company would make world’s cheapest smartphones at an astonishing price of Rs 251 apiece.

He has now been detained by Ghaziabad Police after the owner of Ayam Enterprises filed a FIR against him alleging that Ringing Bells had “defrauded” his company of Rs 16 lakh.

According to Ghaziabad Police deputy SP, Manish Mishra Goel has been currently been detained for interrogation.



 

In the FIR Ayam Enterprises alleges that they had paid Ringing Bells Rs. 30 lakh for their products, but they delivered goods worth Rs. 13lakhs only.

“We paid Rs 30 lakh to Ringing Bells through RTGS on different occasions. But it delivered us products worth Rs 13 lakh only. Upon follow-up, we could get products plus money totaling Rs 14 lakh,”

The FIR also stated that they were threatened with life by Ringing Bells if they asked for remaining Rs 16 lakh “again and again”.
