Mukesh Ambani’s daughter Isha Ambani tied the knot with Anand Piramal in a traditional ceremony on December 12 at her residence Antilia in Mumbai. The couple hosted a lavish reception at Jio Gardens in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex. While the 33-year-old Piramal scion kept it classy in a black bandhgala, Isha looked stunning in a golden lehenga paired with diamond jewellery.
The one at Jio Gardens witnessed who’s who from the world of Bollywood, cricket and politics. Those who came to congratulate the newlywed included names like Hema Malini, Kartik Aaryan, Sunny Deol, Esha Deol, Riteish Deshmukh, Ekta Kapoor, and Zaheer Khan.
Just like Beyonce performed for Isha and Anand during pre-wedding festivities, singer Javed Ali sang Maula from the movie Delhi 6 and Rekha Bhardwaj also gave a scintillating performance. Music maestro AR Rahman also sang his beautiful renditions.
Soon after the grand wedding of Isha and Anand, social media went berserk. The wedding photos and videos were all over the internet. The lavish, days-long celebration has been dubbed “the big, fat Indian wedding,” were also covered in the foreign media. Apart from Beyonce’s private concert, presence of Hillary Clinton, Arianna Huffington and much of Bollywood, attracted international attention towards the wedding.
Unsurprisingly, Stephen Colbert, host of the Late Show, was flabbergasted by the extravagant wedding and joked about it on his show while referring to the fact that Beyoncé was invited for a private performance and that former Secretaries of State Hillary Clinton and John Kerry were in attendance.
“Democrats, always a friend of the little guy.”
Here are the responses to the Stephen Colbert’s YouTube video.
And it is not just Stephen Colbert, a large section of people both in India and overseas couldn’t digest how ‘Queen Bey’ herself gave a private concert at a pre-wedding event, something she never really does. People wondered how rich you have to be able to book Beyonce at your wedding.
