Forbes India announced the ‘Forbes India Rich List’ for the year 2015. Industrialist Mukesh Ambani is yet again on the top and that too for the ninth year in a row.
Mukesh Ambani has a net worth of $18.9 billion, which is a dip by $4.7 billion since last year.
What is more, Flipkart co-founders Sachin Bansal and Binni Bansal have made their debut at 86th position. The Bansals have a net worth of $1.3 billion each.
Second on the list is Sun Pharma’s Dilip Shanghvi, who has a net worth of $18 billion, with Wipro’s Azim Premji placed third with net worth of $15.9 billion.
Looking at the list as a whole, the combined wealth of India’s top 100 richest people is $345 billion, which remains largely unchanged from $346 billion in 2014.
According to Forbes, the dip in the wealth of India’s wealthiest people was due to the fall in the stock markets and depreciation of the rupee over the past one year, though they initially had estimated the Indian economy was to grow 7 percent this year.
They then further explained that as many as 10 people saw their net worth dip by over $1 billion each in the past one year, including industrialist Lakshmi Mittal, whose is ranked 8th this year with net worth $11.2 billion. His wealth went south by nearly $4.6 billion and thus he slipped three places.
