In a bizarre news reported from the United Kingdom, two friends and anglers used their dead fishing partner’s ashes as bait to catch a 180lb giant carp!
Paul Fairbrass and Cliff Dale (both 65) were supposed to go on a fishing trip with their best friend Ron Hopper. But before their plan could get materialized, Ron Hopper fell prey to liver cancer.
Alhough extremely tragic, this unexpected loss did not let Paul and Cliff down as they both decided to give a special honor to their dead friend.
Paul and Cliff decided to turn Hopper’s ashes into fishing baits for a “legendary catch”. However, little did they know that it would actually help them catch a wondrous fish. This unusual blend of bait helped the two snare a whopping 12-stone Siamese carp weighing 180 lbs – one of the biggest carp fish ever caught in the world.
Later in an interview, Mr. Fairbrass said:

We were gutted that Ron couldn’t come on the trip because he was really looking forward to it, but he was definitely with us when we caught that fish. We caught some smaller fish with it but didn’t think we would get a big one. Ron must have been looking out for us. It seemed like it was destiny we would use Ronnie to catch one of the biggest fish in the lake. It’s what he would have wanted.
This unusual story of friendship and fishing soon became a hot topic across on social media networks. One of the users also made it a point of discussion on Reddit.
