A fatwa has been issued against JD(U) leader, Khurshid aka Firoz, for shouting ‘Jai Shri Ram’ in Bihar Assembly.
Imarat-e-sharia, a Muslim religious organization, has now issued a fatwa against Khurshid. The mufti, Sohail Ahmed Kasmi, has declared Khurshid to be a non-believer of Islam.
Khurshid Ahmed, the Minority Welfare Minister of Bihar, commented,
If I have to say ‘Jai Shri Ram’ for people of Bihar, development, harmony, I will never step back from saying it.
Ahmed further added,

God knows with what intention I raised slogans of ‘jai shri Ram’. My work will tell who I am… Respect Imarat Shariah, they should have asked my intentions (before issuing fatwa). Why should I be scared?
Khurshid was once again made the Minister of Minority Welfare in the state after the allegiance of JD(U)-BJP. He held the same portfolio under the Grand Alliance as well.
On July 28, Bihar CM, Nitish Kumar easily won the trust votes and returned to join hands with BJP to form a government in the state. The results weighed heavily in Kumar’s favor with 131-108 results of the floor test. Nitish Kumar formed the government for the sixth time in the state, bidding adieu to RJD and joining hands with BJP. Four members were not allowed to cast their votes, thereby reducing the numbers to 239. The 131 votes in favor of Nitish Kumar comprised JD(U) 70, BJP 52, HAM 1, RLSP 2, LJP 2 and Independent 4. Nitish Kumar needed only 120 votes to win.
