Here is yet another indication of why we don’t see a fruitful and effective Live TV show debate.
A debate on a new TV show called ‘Fatah ka Fatwa’ got uglier when a Muslim cleric literally picked up a walking stick to hit a Muslim woman when he was on the verge of losing his stance.
The debate was on whether “Burqa a must for all Muslim women?”
During the debate, the cleric got aggressive and told the woman panellist that he will teach her a lesson. However, the woman fearlessly braved the cleric.
The cleric also told her to shut her mouth and warned that if she does not stop, then he’ll shun his manners.
He even called the woman uncivilised and mannerless.
Earlier, just two days after issuing a ‘fatwa’ against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a fanatic Kolkata cleric had threatened to ‘slit the throat of Pakistan-born author and political commentator Tarek Fatah’, with whom he appeared on a television program.
“Your throat will also be slit,” Syed Mohammad Nurur Rahman Barkati, the Shahi Imam of Kolkata’s Tipu Sultan Mosque, told Fatah while responding angrily to the latter’s statement that India has come a long way from the medieval practices when people’s throats were slit.
