In Kaggaladahundi village in Gundlupet, Karnataka, farmers recently staged a dharna against the setting up of a Chinese marigold flower processing unit. The farmers raised slogans against the district administration and the government for not protecting the rights and caring for the welfare of the farmers.
On Sunday, the farmers staged a roadblock (rasta rook), forming a human chain at the town’s Bhuvaneshwari Circle. They were lathi-charged by police.
Members of KRRS and Hasiru Sene blocked the Kollegal-Mysuru Road on Monday to protest against the lathi-charge. BJP politician Niranjan Kumar criticized district in-charge HS Mahadeva Prasad for maintaining silence over the issue.
