Popularly known for playing Jiya’s Nani in the Indian television show ‘Shararat’, Farida Jalal has worked in over two hundred Hindi movies, apart from Telugu, Tamil and English-language film, and Indian television.
Born on March 14, 1949, in New Delhi, Jalal becomes another victim of death hoax on social media, after Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, and Yo Yo Honey Singh.
The news of Farida Jalal’s death spread like wildfire on social media. Social networking sites started flooding with sad and shocking tweets.
Even the Wikipedia page of the actress showed the wrong date. It became easier for people to believe this hoax. However, Wikipedia realized their mistake and rectified the error made by them.
Irritated by the calls, Farida Jalal slammed the death rumors. She said,
I am hale and hearty. I don’t know from where these baseless rumours are coming from.
Initially I laughed, but from last 30 mins my phone have been constantly ringing and everybody is asking the same question. It’s a bit irritating, I wonder why people spread such rumours.
Farida Jalal will be soon seen playing a prominent role of a Kashmiri woman in Imran Khan’s upcoming film ‘Sargoshiyan’. With her phenomenal acting, the actress has won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress in ‘Paras’ (1971), ‘Henna’ (1991) and ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ (1995).
