RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav had a narrow escape when a ceiling fan fell on him on the stage at a meeting at Lakhaura in East Champaran district (Bihar).
He suffered minor injuries on the hand.
Lalu was sipping tea, pointing out to the organisers that the fan was dangling. “Fix it and cut the power connection first… It will fall on us anytime,” he told them.
The organisers asked the electrician to come to the stage at once. But even before the electrician could turn up, the fan came down, narrowly missing Lalu.
Lalu, however, remained unfazed and continued to address the gathering. Displaying a locket of the goddess he was wearing, Lalu said, “I’ve the blessings of goddess Durga and no one can harm me.”
Later, he blamed the policemen for being irresponsible. Jokingly, he said he would henceforth ask them to give a written guarantee that the stage would not collapse.
The incident comes few days after Lalu Prasad had another miraculous escape when a portion of the stage at Arwal collapsed. He and other leaders fell, but he maintained his cool.
