There has been a lot of fuss about nepotism since the Queen aka Kangana attacked the movie mafia, Karan Johar, for being intolerant to outsiders on his damn show, ‘Koffee with Karan’.
There have been innumerable opinions, and open letters, all trying to prove that talent rocks in the end, not nepotism. Well, there are a few actors who are speaking their mind, and one of them is Emraan Hashmi.
The actor openly accepted that he is a byproduct of nepotism. He says,
Yes, nepotism exists in our industry, and I got a break because of it. If my uncle [Mahesh Bhatt], who is a producer and director hadn’t been there, I wouldn’t have been an actor.
He further said that coming into films was not a conscious move,
My case was different. There was no dying need for me to become an actor or be a part of this industry. My college had got over, and I stepped into films.
He ended up by saying that his son’s image will always be attached to him if he becomes an actor,
I wouldn’t push my seven-year-old son, Ayaan, now into Bollywood. But tomorrow, if he wants to become an actor, it will be a lot easier for him because his father is an actor and producer. However, Emraan feels that the easy start could later pose a risk to his son’s career. The industry will try to box my son into an image that his father had and completely snatch away his individuality. They won’t let him start afresh, like an outsider.
