India is one of the largest two-wheeler markets in the world and is largely dependent on petrol-run bikes and scooters. But increasing fuel prices and concerns over fuel economy, have led a growing number of companies to focus on getting into the electric bike and scooter market. However as of now, electric two-wheelers have limited scope in India due to factors like their limited speed, range and not so good performance.
But it is all going change as Emflux Motors, a Bangalore based start-up, will officialy launch their first electric superbike, called Emflux Model 1, at Auto Expo 2018. It will be competing in the segment of 600-650cc motorcycles.
What’s amazing about this e-superbike, as claimed by the manufacturer, is that it can attain a top speed of around 200 kmph while the sprint time for 0-100 kmph will take just 3.0 seconds. The battery offers a range of 200 kms while the noiseless drive-train will even help in reduction of noise pollution.
The sports bike comes with a lithium ion battery that takes just 36 minutes to reach 80 percent from a fast charger. Specifications wise, the Model 1 will come with liquid cooled AC induction motor boasting 50KW peak power and 84Nm torque at 8400 rpm. While ABS is sourced from Continental, batteries are from Samsung.
The company is likely to price Emflux Model 1 between Rs 5-6 lakh. Some of its features include 7″ touch TFT Display, GPS navigation, real-time vehicle diagnostics, auto updates, mobile app and bike-to-bike Connectivity.
