If you wish to do something special for your planet on Earth Day, NASA has the perfect option for you.
NASA has sanctioned off 64,000 pieces of Earth which can be “adopted” by people on its website. Each piece is about 55 miles wide and will be assigned randomly. This adoption will be similar to adopting a highway or a village where the adopters will not get legal or property rights.
In return, NASA will provide individualized scientific data to the adopters. They can also explore and interact with a world map to print certificates to feel proud and show it to the world on social media. NASA has a hope that every section will get adopted before April 22, which is celebrated worldwide as Earth Day.
I have adopted a tiny fraction in Greenland, where is your adopted piece? Let us know in the comments.
