They say that cricket is ‘Gentleman’s Game’ and the iconic Rahul Dravid has proved it right once again though off the field.

Dravid, who has blessed the nation as a great batsman, made us proud once again when he declined a honorary doctorate that was to be given to him by Bangalore University.

He had then not elaborated on the reason. But speaking to The Indian Express, the Padma Bhushan awardee explained why.
The reason he gave for not accepting the doctorate will leave you awestruck.
Jammy, as he is fondly called, said,
“The thing about the doctorate is that my mom did her PhD and earned a doctorate at the age of 55. My wife’s a surgeon who studied seven years to get a degree in surgery. And I’ve always felt that if it was something I wanted, I would like to have earned it. I don’t mean that anyone else should have that feeling and I’m not trying to belittle anyone else. It’s just that I felt that way because of my own experiences.”
To decline something as respectable as a doctorate before the nation and saying that he would like to “earn” it requires a huge heart and a lot of confidence. Not everyone is blessed with that.
Well, is this not a reason why he has earned the title of ‘Mr Dependable’?
Dravid has won many hearts across the nation once again and has certainly set an example for a lot of upcoming cricketers who idolise him.
