Things went horribly wrong for All India Bakchod (AIB) after its founder Tanmay Bhat posted a meme showing PM Modi’s face with a dog filter.
There was a wave of backlash against both AIB and Tanmay. Enraged supporters of the BJP demanded action, and soon the Mumbai Police cyber cell filed an FIR against Tanmay.

But the police action did not go down well with members of the opposition parties. And they decided to protest.
So in came Congress leader Shashi Tharoor with a unique dig at the controversy and all those who demanded Tanmay’s arrest.

Yes, that’s Tharoor using the dog filter on his own face!
But did you know that Tharoor is not the only one to do so. Trinamool Congress MP Derek O’Brien did the same, too!
O’Brien was responding to a tweet by this user who probably gave the opposition politicians the idea of using a dog filter as a mark of protest.
Thanks for the idea . I just did

Tharoor and O’Brien had their share of support on Twitter in the form of other opposition leaders and loyalists:

But there were voices critical of both Tharoor and O’Brien:
Here’s one sarcastic joke on you few years back made you so furious that you had to ‘strictly reply’ to it. You talk about trolls? ☺️ pic.twitter.com/nXnch7ZppH

The #dogfilter challenge is nothing new. Loyalty seeking Gandhi family has always turned congress party men into dogs for real 😂

The outrage had forced Tanmay to remove the meme but he had tried to defend himself by reminding the world of this tweet by the Prime Minister:

Some quarters argue that if jokes could be cracked at the former prime minister Manmohan Singh when he was in power then why not on PM Modi.
