Despite the fact that the allotted 50 days since demonetization is almost up, a doctor couple in Delhi’s Sadar Bazaar area have opened their arms to the public and ready to accept old currency notes in order to treat people.
Further, they have also added that even if the patient has no money at all, they can approach them and they will treat them for free.
As the country is still grappling with a currency shortage, over the past few weeks the poor have been hit the worst with many not having enough cash to get themselves treated or even afford medicines.
In order to help these people, Dr. Saira Khan and Sardar Khan have now emerged as a beacon of hope and are ready to treat people for free and even offer free medicines.
Their initiative came to light via a recent TV broadcast by NDTV, where the couple were seen saying that people can approach them even at this current time of cash crunch as its treatment that matters.
“Doesn’t matter whether someone has old notes or no cash at all. We’ve never turned away a patient. Ever” – Dr. Sardar Khan.
He also revealed that he along with his wife are doing charity work for more than 15 years and when demonetization happened, they realised that people are facing a lot of hardships due to the shortage of new currency.
They thus decided to put up a sign in front of their clinic that in Hindi read “Don’t worry if you have old notes or even no money, we will treat you”.
They also printed more copies of this sign along with the address of their clinic and posted it in different parts of the neighbourhood.
The duo run an Unani and Ayurveda clinic and claim that to them it doesn’t matter whether someone has money or not, because they never turn away a patient. Ever!
