Barely months after the much-hyped Freedom 251, the world’s cheapest phone priced at Rs.251, another Indian Android smartphone, the Docoss X1, has been launched in India at Rs.888.
Jaipur-based company Docoss launched the X1 smartphone and is available at its official website docoss.com.
The Docoss X1 smartphone can be booked till April 29 before 10 PM.
The company is also booking the smartphone via SMS. To book your order type “Your Name Address and pincode” and send it to 7666204430. “Kindly do not call on the SMS number,” wrote Docoss on their Facebook page.
Just like its predecessor, Freedom 251, Docoss X1 too has raised suspicions of being yet another scam by an unknown company to make some quick money.
What makes the launch of this phone doubtful is that this is first phone of the company and there is no mention of any other product in the portfolio. Moreover, instead of off-the-shelf sales, customers can only pre-book the phone on its website and via SMS until Apr. 29 with the option of cash-on-delivery. The company also claims to deliver the smartphone from May 2.
Reports say that several buyers have complained that the company’s customer care numbers are not working. Calls made to the company’s phone number mentioned on the website also went unanswered.
The troubles faced by Docoss have echoes of Freedom 251. Ringing Bells have faced allegations of fraud and placing misleading advertisements and collecting money through a ponzi scheme.
