32-Year-Old DM Of Buxar Commits Suicide In Ghaziabad; He Was An IAS Officer Of 2012 Batch

District magistrate of Buxar, Mukesh Pandey, allegedly committed suicide on Thursday night at Ghaziabad railway station. His dead body was found on the railway track near the yard. Government Railway Police (GRP) also found a suicide note which revealed the identity of Mukesh Pandey.

An IAS officer of the 2012 batch, Pandey apparently committed suicide by jumping off from a moving train. Ghaziabad GRP station house officer (SHO) said that Pandey’s body has been sent for post mortem which will be conducted on Friday. The police officer also revealed that GRP recovered a suicide note, a purse and an identity card of the deceased from the spot.

Reportedly, Pandey left Buxar two days ago and flew to Delhi via Varanasi on Thursday. Before leaving his duty, he had handed over the charge to Buxar deputy development commissioner (DDC), Mobin Ali Ansari, and cited that he will be leaving for Patna due to ailment of a close family member.

32-year old Mukesh Pandey has had a great service record and had secured an all-India 14 rank in IAS 2012. He hailed from Chhapra district of Bihar and was recently posted to Buxar as district magistrate. Prior to this, he was posted as sub-divisional magistrate in the Ballia sub-division of Begusarai and as DDC-cum-chief executive officer, district board, in Katihar.

According to reports, Mukesh Pandey had sent a message to a friend saying that he was going to commit a suicide. In his message, he had also written that his suicide note will be found in a Nike bag in room no. 742 of Hotel Leela Palace and that he is going to commit suicide by jumping off from the 10th floor of a building in Janakpuri, Delhi. Upon receiving the message, his friend immediately informed the police. However, when the police reached the location, Pandey had apparently left.



India Today quotes a police officer saying,

At 6:30 PM, we got to know through his friends that IAS officer Mukesh Pandey may commit suicide. We immediately reached at the district center but found nothing. In one footage, Pandey is seen coming out of the Westin Mall at around 5:55 PM. Then we checked more CCTV footages and found him moving towards the metro station. Visuals of the station were also checked but we found nothing. At 9 PM, we got information that his body is found in Ghaziabad area.

The suicide note that Pandey had left behind read,

I am committing suicide in district centre area of Janakpuri, west Delhi near Hotel Piccadilly by jumping off the 10th floor of the building. I am fed up with my life. I don’t believe in human existence anymore. I am sorry. I love you all! pleas forgive me!
