‘M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story’, directed by Neeraj Pandey, will hit the theaters on 30 September, 2016 and finally, the journey of Dhoni, a well-kept secret, will see light. The stunning teaser of the film didn’t reveal much about Dhoni’s romantic past but ‘Mumbai Mirror’, with its close sources in the production team of the film, shared this unheard tragic love saga of Dhoni’s life:
While he was still fighting to find his place in India XI, he had fallen in love with a girl named Priyanka Jha. Luckily, during that time, he was picked for the India A squad to tour Zimbabwe and Kenya and also, he helped India A chase down 223 against their arch-rivals with a half-century, scoring 362 runs in six innings.
As he was enjoying his victory, his girlfriend Priyanka, the girl he loved the most, died in an accident. He was shocked and shattered.
People close to him believed that he might quit cricket but slowly, he regained strength and climbed his way back among the Boys in Blue.
During his comeback match against Pakistan in Vishakhapatnam, he scored 148 in just 123 deliveries, breaking the record for the highest score by an Indian wicket keeper.
Eventually, he found love again with Sakshi Singh Rawat, his childhood friend and they tied the knot on July 4, 2010.
Reports also suggest that Neeraj Pandey had taken Dhoni’s approval to use Priyanka’s story in the film, as it marked a turning point in his life.
