With two World cups (T20 and ODI) and humungous success at the IPL, one cannot question the integrity of MS Dhoni at all.

IPL is one format which is a perfect blend of glamour and cricket. Most often, this amalgamation has proven to be controversial. Dhoni’s ‘Chennai Super Kings’ was suspended for 2 years after Gurunath Meiyappan, the team principal, was found guilty of indulging in betting activities in the IPL.

Meiyappan was suspended for life, but people attacked MS. Dhoni, too, for being the part of this underhand activities.

Now, for the first time, Dhoni spoke about the IPL spot-fixing case in the Rajdeep Sardesai book ‘Democracy’s XI’ and put all rumors to rest. This is what he revealed,

Let me tell you, it is an absolute lie that I told a probe panel that Meiyappan was only a cricket enthusiast, all I said is he had nothing to do with the team’s on-field cricketing decisions. I can’t even pronounce the word ‘enthusiast’.

He also blamed the media for irresponsibly dragging him into this controversy,

That is where I really have to draw the line. Please criticize me but how can you accuse me of something like fixing a cricket game after all that the game has given me. For media-persons to say things like ‘there can be no smoke without fire’ is crazy. That is why I don’t want to even talk to the media.

The wicketkeeper-batsman was also targeted for backing former BCCI chief, N Srinivasan. To which Dhoni quoted,

He doesn’t care what the general consensus about his relationship with the managing director of India Cements Limited is and that he felt Srinivasan was always there to help cricketers.
