Australian woman cricketer Alex Blackwell said that she has drawn inspiration from Indian cricketer Virat Kohli and skipper MS Dhoni.
Known for her powerful and precise strokeplay, Blackwell added that she has been inspired how Kohli and Dhoni approach the middle overs.
“That’s my job too, to put pressure on the fielders. It’s not always about clearing the rope. I am a boundary hitter but it’s also about running hard,” Blackwell said.
But she added that not just equal pay, focus should be on creating equal conditions for men and women cricketers.
As the team prepares to face West Indies in Sunday’s World T20 final at the Eden Gardens, the vice-captain said that Kolkata is like home to them. Australia had won the ODI World Cup here in 1997.
