MS Dhoni: The Untold Story is finally out and people are giving a mixed response regarding it! Sushant Singh Rajput is being applauded for his performance.

We also came across many untold stories of Dhoni’s life.

Dhoni has always been famous for his signature shot ‘the helicopter shot’. But Dhoni is not the inventor of the shot and not many us know the story behind it.

It was Santosh Lal who taught Dhoni this shot  which was called Thappad Shot back then.

Another friend of Santosh Lal, Nishant Dayal said:

He and Dhoni were the best of friends since childhood. They would play tennis ball games endlessly. They both worked for Railways. Santosh was fearless as a batsman. Over the years, Dhoni may have patented the helicopter shot, but growing up there was someone who was better at it. Dhoni always admired his batting style, and Santosh taught him to play the helicopter shot.

Dhoni had spent his childhood with Santosh Lal and their friendship got deeper while traveling to different states for cricket tournaments. Even when Dhoni became a star he was friends with Santosh but a tragedy took Dhoni’s friend from him.

At the age of 32, Santosh succumbed to pancreatitis. Dhoni tried his best to save his friend, he even arranged an air ambulance for his ailing friend to shift him to a Delhi hospital, but God had planned something else and it all went in vain.

Santosh Lal is the reason behind Dhoni’s so many picture-perfect finishing shots. Cricket fans and Dhoni will always be thankful to him for teaching him such a historic shot.
