Death Of KPS Gill, The Man Who Who Ended Khalistani Insurgency In Punjab, Leaves Twitter In Mourning

Former Punjab top cop KPS Gill, on May 26, passed away in Delhi’s Sri Ganga Ram Hospital after suffering a sudden cardiac arrest.

 

Former Director General of Police (DGP) KPS Gill was 82 and according to news reports was suffering from End Stage Kidney Failure and significant Ischemic Heart Disease.

 


Gill had been recovering from Peritonitis when he suffered a major cardiac arrest on May 26 that led to his death.

 

Gill was a Padma Shri awardee who over the decades was credited for ending the Khalistani insurgency in Punjab.

While he had an illustrious life as a police officer, post retirement he life was surrounded with controversies with  Indian Hockey Federation  (IFH) being suspended by Indian Olympic Association indefinitely under his Presidency.

 

It must be noted that despite the controversies Gill’s work as Punjab DGP is still well appreciated and left many in shock.

 



 

After his retirement in 1995, Gill became an author and consultant on counter-terrorism, president of the Institute for Conflict Management.
