An FIR filed by the Haryana Police revealed that Dera Sacha Sauda followers had a plan to help Ram Rahim Singh escape the police.

According to the FIR, the Dera followers had an escape plan of running over the security personnel and taking away the leader after he was convicted by the special CBI court last week. However, the plan was foiled when they saw that the security had been beefed up and much more security personnel landed on the site, something that they had not anticipated earlier.

The conspiracy had been hatched much in advance to snatch the Dera chief and run away. After the conviction, Ram Rahim Singh was ordered to be taken to Rohtak jail. However, he was later airlifted to Rohtak jail when the administration decided that transporting Singh by road would be dangerous and may cause more violence.

When the Dera chief was being transported to a jail in a black Scorpio of Haryana Police, a white SUV, which was part of Ram Rahim Singh’s cavalcade and fitted with a signal jamming system, revved past the police Scorpio.

Six men got down from the white SUV, wearing Haryana Police uniform, and demanded that the Baba be handed to them. One of the police officers who escorted the ‘godman’, said,

We tried to prevent Ram Rahim’s guards from pulling him out of our car at which they started yelling ‘We will take Pitaji with us’ and asked their driver to run it over the police officers.

Following this incident, the police officers had two tasks at hand — to keep Ram Rahim under security and get rid of the followers dressed as Haryana Police. The followers also kept ordering the driver to reverse the car and run over the police men with it. The police officers who witnessed this incident have mentioned all this in the FIR that was filed at Panchkula on August 26.

The seven accused Dera followers are in police custody and an automatic machine gun, two magazines tied with a tape, a Mauser Pistol with 22 rounds and other ammunition were recovered from the Dera car.
