After facing a lot of problems Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s most controversial film ‘Padmaavat’ is finally in the theatres, running successfully. The movie has left the audience awestruck and is receiving a lot of appreciation from all around the globe. However, there are a few people who didn’t like the movie and one of those is Swara Bhasker, who feels that the movie has glorified Jauhar and that’s regressive.

We recently reported about how the cast and maker of the film reacted to such criticism. While Maharawal Ratan Singh aka Shahid Kapoor called the letter awkward, Deepika Padukone, who played the character of Rani Padmavati, said that they have not endorsed Jauhar in their film.

Talking to DNA, she also expressed about how powerful was Jauhar in that time:

“Let me put things in perspective. We are not endorsing jauhar. You must see the scene/practice in context to the period in which it was shown. And when you do that, you will realize, it’s so powerful. You do not feel like she is doing anything wrong. You want her to embrace the flames because she is going to be united with the man she loves.”

Deepika got another chance to comment over Swara’s open letter while talking to India Today. The actress took a hilarious dig at Swara and trolled her in the most savage manner ever. Here’s what Deepika said:

“She (Swara) probably missed the disclaimer at the beginning of the film. You probably went out to buy some popcorn and missed the initial disclaimers that come out. I think, secondly, the fact that it is important to view a film in totality and to see in which period it was set in. Third of all, I think for me this film is not just about the act (jauhar) that they all committed, but it stood for so much more. For me, it’s a celebration of women and their strength, power and dignity.”
