A lot has been said about Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus ‘Padmaavat’. The Karni Sena goons did every possible thing to halt the release of the movie. However, after making several changes in the film the makers and the cast finally got the chance to celebrate when the movie got released on January 25.
The movie spoke for itself and got record-breaking appreciation from the audience. People even claimed that the Karni Sena protested on baseless assumptions and the movie speaks a lot for the pride of Rajputs. While the whole film fraternity stood in support of the makers and cast of the movie, Swara Bhasker came out with some different opinions. Swara claimed that the movie glorified Jauhar and it made her feel like reduced to a vagina.
The Padmaavat team gave a solid reply to the actress and then came the Maharawal Ratan Singh aka Shahid Kapoor who called her open letter awkward.
And now, the Rani Padmavati herself has spoken about the flake she received for the Jauhar scene. While talking to DNA, Deepika said:

“Let me put things in perspective. We are not endorsing jauhar. You must see the scene/practice in context to the period in which it was shown. And when you do that, you will realise, it’s so powerful. You do not feel like she is doing anything wrong. You want her to embrace the flames because she is going to be united with the man she loves.”
Deepika has said that the 15 minutes climax scene was very difficult for her to perform. The scene has no dialogues and yet it is so intense and it’s the thing that only a filmmaker like Bhansali can shoot.
Sharing about the problems she faced while shooting for the climax scene, she said:
“For me, it was the most difficult scene to perform. We shot it in peak summer at Film City in Mumbai. I cannot tell you how challenging it was. After every single take, I would go up to my van, have a shower, get ready for my scene and go back. With my heavy costume and jewellery, the heat was oppressive. It was such a difficult thing to execute. There is absolutely no dialogue. And when I saw the scene during the cast and crew screening, Sanjay sir, Ranveer (Singh) and I, who were sitting together, started bawling.”
The climax of the film took it to another level. All efforts that Bhansali and his cast have put in the movie is finally being paid off. We hope that Deepika’s response will clear the controversial air surrounding the film.
