Aamir Khan’s Dangal has had a massive first weekend at the Indian box office.
With Dangal recording 42.35 crores nett on Sunday (Day 3), it is the biggest ever day in the history of hindi cinema. The total weekend collection stands at 106.95 crores nett, including 1.07 crores from Tamil and Telugu on day 3.
Apart from commercial success, Dangal has been lauded critically.
It continues to rule hearts across the country and has also been made tax free in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.
Aamir Khan has always been breaking records and setting higher benchmarks.
In 2006, Fanaa was the first film ever to do a 4 crores plus on a day. Ghajini in 2008 was the first film to make a 10cr plus on a day, and also cross 100 crores. He was the first star to cross 200 crores at the box office with 3 idiots and 300 crores with Dhoom 3.
In fact, he is the only actor to have two films in the 300 crores club, with PK also being the all time highest grossing film with 348 crores. And now in 2016, Dangal is the first movie ever to do a 40 crores plus in a day.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Dangal is based on the life of wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat, who trained his daughters to make it big in the field of wrestling.
