The world is filled with mystical unexplored places and scientists have discovered one such wonder.
Ciudad Blanca or the White City was discovered in 2015 by American and Honduran explorers.
Hidden away in dense forests, infested with parasites, venomous snakes and out-of-the-world bugs, this place was a surprise to all.
Legend has it that the locals fled this place in the 16th century with a fear that this place is cursed by the Monkey God. Five hundred years later, the explorers suffered the wrath of the Monkey God when they nearly lost their faces after getting bitten by a rare flesh-eating parasite.
After spending years in exploring the city, the scientists finally struck upon the pot of gold when they found the city’s ruins in 32,000 km Mosquitia forest.
In reality, the curse originated from the Spanish invasion in the 1500s which brought slavery and diseases. Within the city’s ruins, the team discovered dozens of artefacts made out of clay and stone, including trays and a throne. Many of them had jaguar faces and it was one of such items that draw the team’s attention when they first landed. According to the team leader, Doug Preston, the artefacts date back to 1000 AD.
Preston accepts that there are more hidden treasures waiting to be explored, but after losing much of his face to bugs and battling with snakes, he said:
It’s just too dangerous. And just getting in and out is dangerous.
Preston has called off the exploration citing danger to life.
There are many magical places on the planet that we do not know of yet. Only time and advanced technology will unfold the hidden secrets to the mankind, and who knows maybe we can learn a thing or two from them!
