Chhattisgarh is a hotbed of Naxal activities. Attacks on CRPF personnel, who are stationed in the jungles of the state to fight Naxal terrorism, is common. Many of the brave personnel have attained martyrdom in the process.
The CRPF is, however, not a force designed to kill the Naxals. Like any other security force, the CRPF, too, is bound by a moral duty to help people in distress.
Be it a security threat or a natural calamity or any other problem, the CRPF is expected to come to the aid of the people.

This is exactly what happened in Dantewada when a team of CRPF men were returning from a Naxal operation.
According to PTI, they spotted a woman lying by the roadside near Naynar village. Upon inquiry the woman told them that she is unwell.

The CRPF men realized that the family members of the woman were away. A two-month-old baby was near the woman.

The men knew that the terrain would not help in the evacuation of the woman to the hospital along with the baby. So, they decided to do what brave men do – carry the woman on their shoulders.
The men built a makeshift stretcher and thus began a 7-km-long trek over rocky paths in a dense forest.
