Uruguay’s players are left looking at each other in bemusement prior to their Copa America clash with Mexico on June 5 when the organisers played wrong national anthem.
Ahead of tournament’s Group C clash between Mexico and Uruguay; the Uruguayan players were waiting in a line up for their national song when first few bars of the Chilean National anthem rang out and players started looking at each other in confusion.
The error soon became clear that it was the wrong national anthem when a small pockets of Uruguayan fans started to whistle and jeer at the error.
The incident took place during the kick-off time in Phoenix, Arizona.
Later in a statement from Copa America, the organizers apologized and blamed the mistake on human error.
Before this error the Mexico’s anthem was played without any hitch.
Mexico went on to win the match 3-1
