Kashmir is “India-occupied”. You may have heard this from Pakistanis, the terrorists, the Kashmiri Separatists and their supporters (read stone pelters, Leftist professors in elite universities and their brainwashed students).

What is shocking is that Congress party, the oldest political party of the country, calls Kashmir “India-occupied” in its booklet.
Released in Lucknow on June 3, the booklet talks about the three years of the BJP-led NDA government at the Center. The aim was clear: take shots at the Modi government.
But in their overenthusiasm to find flaws in the government, the Congress, which functions like an oligarchy in a democracy, made the terrible mistake of presenting India’s map in a wrong way.
According to PTI, page 12 of the 16-page booklet carried a wrong map of India on which Kashmir was marked “India-occupied”.

The map shows northwestern India and Pakistan, and depicts the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The chapter, ironically, discusses ‘Rashtriya Suraksha Par Aanch‘ (Threat to National Security).
The booklet was released by Gulam Nabi Azad, Congress leader in-charge of Uttar Pradesh, in the presence of Raj Babbar.
While an embarrassed Congress called it a “printing error”, the BJP roasted the Grand Old Party for the monumental gaffe.
Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said:
“Is Congress speaking the language of Pakistan? A Parliament resolution says even Pak-occupied Kashmir is part of India. By projecting Kashmir as Indian occupied Kashmir the Congress party has not only made separatists happy but also gladdened the heart of its patrons across the border. It is condemnable.”
UP BJP leader Rakesh Tripathi said, “While the Congress was registering its opposition for Bha Ja Pa (BJP), it has now started opposing Bharat (India), too.”
Twitterati, too, was in no mood to spare the Congress.

Shameful. Map in Congress booklet shows J&K as Indian occupied Kashmir. Won’t be surprised if this booklet is designed by Mani Snake Aiyar.

Calling Kashmir “India-occupied” is certainly a major mistake. What is also important is to note that the map depicts the political boundaries of India in a wrong manner. The whole of J&K is shown separately from the rest of India, in the manner in which Chinese, Pakistani and some foreign publications show.
This is why the Center in 2016 had proposed the Geospatial Information Regulation Bill which, when passed into law, would make the wrong depiction of the map of India a criminal offence.
