Amidst efforts to improve relations between India and China from both the countries, a video of a Chinese singer singing a magical rendition of Lord Shiva’s prayer is making waves on social media. In the video, Chong Chiu Sen, a Malaysian-born Chinese classical vocalist has sung a spellbinding rendition of Shankarabharanam raga.
Also known as Sai Madhana Mohan Kumar, the name given to him by acclaimed musician DK Pattammal, Sen was first introduced to Carnatic music at a concert in Malaysia. At the event, he was impressed by veena maestro E Gayathri’s performance. Sen then came to India and started learning Bharatanatyam and vocal music. Since then, he has recorded a number of renditions of popular Carnatic songs.
His recent video, in which he can be seen singing Shankarabharanam raga, was shared by J Nandakumar, national convener of Prajna Prabha and member of RSS Akhil Bharatiya Karyakari Mandal on his Twitter page.
Chong Chiu Sen’s magical voice and impressive command over the prayer took thousands of people by awe and the video spread on the social media like a wildfire. Presently, it has 44,000 views, close to 4,000 likes and 2,000 retweets. Watch the video below to experience the mesmerising performance:
