It’s the month of the year that makes Mumbaikars suffer a lot. The Mumbai rains are famous for creating havoc in the city and this year’s monsoon is no different. In fact, according to the MeT department, in just ten days, the city has received 864.5 mm of rain, which is nearly equal to what it gets in an entire month. As the rains are again crippling the city’s infrastructure, with waterlogging in many areas affecting roads and traffic, the citizens are cursing BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation) all over again.
Not just the roads but monsoon have also impacted Mumbai’s lifeline – the railways. Due to the rains, the northern suburb on the Western Line, Nallasopara, got flooded resulting in the cancellation of all inbound and outbound trains including the local ones.
Not just locals but celebrities are facing similar issues. Irritated with the city’s condition, television actress Shruti Seth took to Twitter and slammed BMC for not doing their work right.
In her angry tweet, the actress questioned the city’s municipal corporation’s negligence. Shruti said that the monsoon stays in the city of four months and BMC gets around eight months to do their work, then why is the system failing?
Take a look at her tweet below:
We have a monsoon EVERY year.
For FOUR months.
JUNE to SEPTEMBER.
You have EIGHT months to get your shit together #BMC
How about doing your bloody JOB right for ONCE.
FED UP WITH YOUR APATHY.

Shruti’s tweet received a lot of support. Tweeple agreed with her and slammed the system left and right. Here’s how people reacted to the actress’ tweet.
Shruti dear, this story can’t end so easily. Lot of money is involved. Many pockets to fill. Who cares about the apathy’s and ordeals.

BMC is Asia’s richest municipal corporation. We feed them with budget equal to 20 large cities of India, including size of Chennai, calcutta. more than 38000 crore annually and 51000 crore in FD. At 1 level our apathy in not voting them out, not filing PIL lets d game going.

Keep these lines copied & saved somewhere, Shruti. Trust me, irrespective of whoever amng the “mainstream” parties is in power, u will need to paste these lines every year – year on year! Unless you change (overhaul, actually) these mainstream lot of scums, nothings gonna change!

I have said that before too but just once hold the BMC elections in July and see the magic!

Not just Shruti but many other celebrities and big names came forward and thrashed the system on Twitter. Take a look at some of their tweets below.
Andheri bridge collapse is yet another reminder of how pathetic Mumbai’s infrastructure is. For a city that gives so much to the exchequer, we deserve better, if not best. #shame

It’s not confusing…It’s a very sad state of affairs…We need to stop making a joke about it and taking it so lightly, only then will the authorities take us, the mumbaikars and the situation seriously… https://t.co/Ud9F4ge2zt

It rains in Singapore almost EVERY DAY!!!
There’s never a bloody pothole on even a side street there.
It rains 3 months annually here.
Why can’t we have roads in Mumbai that don’t resemble Armstrong’s buggy ride on the moon?!?
Too much to ask?

And do stop this rubbish bout d ‘spirit of Mumbai’
People go on wt their lives inspite of d crappy infra cause they have no choice n they have to get from one place to another to make a living
If we got a pay check for sitting at home we would.

When will our #BMC ever learn to #Finish what they #Start …. #Annoying to #Sit it the car on the #SameSpot for #20mins on a #DailyBasis because our least efficient #MumbaiMunicipalCorporation is very busy doing nothing. 😡😡 … #KhaddaKaroAurKabhiNaBharo should b their Slogan pic.twitter.com/B2oB3aAFsK

Mumbai welcomes you with jams, and teases you with blocked bylanes and potholes of hell. Our apathy is such that we accept it without even a whimper.
