Even after its conclusion, Indian Premier League 2018 is pretty much in news. After the investigation carried on by Mumbai Police on bookie Sonu Jalan, he named the Bollywood actor-producer Arbaaz Khan for participating in betting during IPL 2018. Later, Arbaaz Khan was summoned by the Thane Police for questioning.
Upon questioning, the actor admitted committing the offence. Evidently, Sonu Jalan has named another B-town celebrity in the IPL betting scandal and the name is definitely a shocker!
According to reports, Sonu Jalan has mentioned the name of the renowned Bollywood director-producer, Sajid Khan in the IPL match betting scandal.
According to the allegations made by him, the ‘Housefull’ director has placed bets on the cricket matches during the cricket tournaments in 2008. Incidentally, Sajid Khan placed bets with Sonu Jalan on ‘session’ in betting terminology, in which one can win by guessing the total numbers of runs scored in five overs of the match or before tea break or lunch break.
However, the brother of ace choreographer Farah Khan, Sajid Khan has not yet been called in by the Thane Police as the allegations made by the mastermind Sonu Jalan are of 7-years-old. Since Sajid Khan placed bets with the bookie during 2008, there are no solid evidences against the director. But, the Police have reported that they may summon Sajid Khan for questioning if needed.
In other news, after Arbaaz Khan admitted to having placed the bets, it was further revealed by him that he has been betting in cricketing tournaments for six years now through Jalan. Apparently, after losing a whopping Rs 2.8 crore in betting, Sonu Jalan had been threatening Arbaaz for a long time.
The Anti-Extortion Cell of Thane Police summoned 2 other Bollywood producers as well, after Sonu Jalan mentioned their involvement in the betting scandal. According to the Police, film producer Parag Sanghvi and Muran Khaitan were also connected to Sonu Jalan. In fact, Parag Sanghvi was an important partner of betting mastermind Sonu.
