Celebrities Join Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev To Save The Indian Rivers

In what seems like a long awaited initiative, Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev is all set to start a month-long campaign on September 3 to spread awareness on the need to conserve rivers. Celebrities from various fields, including politicians and big corporates, are expected to join Sadhguru in his profound endeavor.

Among the celebrities who have pledged their support to the movement called Rally for Rivers are Kiran Majumdar Shaw, Anand Mahindra, Karan Johar, Prasoon Joshi, Shekhar Kapur, Rakeysh Om Prakash Mehra, Suhasini Maniratnam, Rishi Kapoor, Kajol, Juhi Chawla, Dia Mirza, Manoj Bajpai, Tamannaah Bhatia, Anupam Kher, Shikhar Dhawan, Virender Sehwag, Sanjeev Kapoor, Mohanlal and Shankar Mahadevan.


Uma Bharti and Harsh Vardhan have also endorsed the rally. Apart from them, NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant and Sanjeev Sanyal are also supporting the rally alongside Mohan Bhagwat and Umer Ahmed Iliyasi, the Chief Imam of All India Imam Organisation Imam. Thirteen CMs have also pledged their support to this rally. In fact, never in the history of India has any apolitical movement garnered such great support from people of all walks of life.

Although the participation of the celebrities in the event could not be verified individually, it has been learned that Anand Mahindra is planning to gift 15-20 SUVs and a few buses and trucks to the campaign. Furthermore, an official at the Isha Foundation has said:

Prasoon Joshi has written a song, Rakeysh Mehra will assist us with a movie, Shankar Mahadevan is putting together the theme. Every one involved has agreed to contribute in his own way to the cause. Many more corporate heads and celebrities are expected to send in their confirmations in the coming days.

The event is also being supported by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Indian Railways, Border Security Force, Apollo Hospitals, and Indigo Airlines.

According to reports, the event will be flagged off by State Minister of Health, Harsh Vardhan, on September 3 in Coimbatore and will culminate in New Delhi on October 2 in the presence of political, policy, business, film and sports leaders from across the country.

Terming the rally as sincerely an apolitical one, the spokesperson of Isha Foundation has said:

Sadhguru has repeatedly said this is not a protest. This is not an agitation. This is a campaign to raise awareness that our rivers are depleting and that everyone who consumes water must Rally For Rivers.
