Dera Sacha Sauda chief, Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, has been sent to jail for 20 years on charges of raping two women. But hardships don’t seem to be ending anytime soon for the so-called baba and, now, a convicted rapist. He can land in even more trouble as the CBI court is yet to hear the case in which he is accused of two murders. The hearing for the case is scheduled for September 16.
As the lawyers present their argument before the CBI court in the hearing of the murder case, the court may announce its decision soon.
Last month, Punjab and Haryana high court had set a deadline for the CBI court to wind up the hearing in the murder case of journalist Ram Chander Chhatrapati within three months, which ends in October.
Journalist Ram Chander Chhatrapati was reportedly murdered by Dera Sacha Sauda followers for investigating in the matter of rapes done by Ram Rahim. The hearing in case of Dera manager, Ranjit Singh, is also in its final stage.
CBI will now present arguments on the antecedents of Gurmeet Ram Rahim who now stands convicted and punished for raping two of his female followers. The Economic Times quotes CBI sources saying,
Antecedents of an accused hold prime importance during a trial. If an accused is found to have doubtful antecedents the case against him is strengthened. In the instant case, Ram Rahim now stands guilty of rape. This will be contended in the final arguments (in murder trials) before the court.
Gurmeet Ram Rahim had filed more than 60 petitions to get the trials against him delayed but now it is almost certain that he will not be spared for his crimes.
